Beginning therapy with me starts by beginning to establish a sense of safety. In order to do that, a trust in your ability to manage symptoms and cope with challenges must be developed. Therefore early on, and throughout treatment, we focus on building and honing the skills needed to get by. I pull from evidence-based treatment models like DBT and ACT to help you build a menu of coping strategies to address your unique symptom set.
During your initial assessment we will discuss your reasons for beginning therapy, explore your treatment goals, assess symptoms and conduct diagnostic assessments as needed. At your initial assessment session you can expect to explore your background and history; however, you are not expected to disclose anything you do not feel ready to discuss. At this time we will introduce possible treatment modalities that may be helpful in addressing your goals.
**Beginning January 1, 2025, the cost of Initial Assessments will be raised to $175 to accommodate the additional time and documentation required for this service.
Individual psychotherapy session are where the work of therapy is conducted. These session can occur on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis depending on your financial and scheduling needs. Treatment modalities including EMDR, IFS, DBT, and other brain-body interventions are utilized. Occasionally homework is assigned as appropriate.
Extended session may be requested or recommended at the following price points:
Family sessions focused on psychoeducation and supportive interventions are also offered on an as-needed basis.
Phone consultation are for individuals continuing beginning therapy with H&H. During this 15-20 minute call you can expect to introduce yourself and the current events that have sparked your interest in therapy. You can also use this time to ask any questions you may have in order to make an informed choice about your treatment provider. Symptoms, history, and possible treatment modalities may be discussed.
Trauma intensives are reserved for current or returning H&H clients. This service is a strategic offering designed to coincide with on-going trauma therapy. It is highly structured and protocol-driven. Prior to attending an intensive we will conduct a phone consultation to clarify our treatment target(s). During the intensive the therapist will facilitate interventions designed to focus on the identified target. Treatment modalities utilized will include:
Trauma intensives are an in-person only services and will be held at our Leawood office.
A short break will be taken at approximately 90 minutes into the allotted time.
